Tips for Planning a Summer Wedding

Summer wedding season is almost here! Whether you’re in the midst of planning your fabulous wedding or thinking of choosing a summer date, there are some things you don’t want to forget.

Keep the heat in mind
If you’re having the ceremony and/or reception outside (or even inside), it’s important to provide some sort of heat relief. No one wants to be uncomfortable! Make sure your venues have air conditioning or some sort of shade. Also, be sure to have plenty of cold water ready near the dance floor or at the ceremony. Don’t forget about your vendors either! Fans for ceremony programs are also a good idea if your ceremony is outside. This is also something important to think about when dress shopping. Opt for light, breathable fabrics or a short dress. A light suit or linen suit will work great for the groom.

Serve seasonal foods
No one wants to eat a heavy meal in sweltering heat, so take the opportunity to serve seasonal and light dishes! Utilizing local produce is a great idea. Watermelon salad with feta cheese, anything with tomatoes, and ceviche are some ideas. Summer also allows you to get creative with cocktails! Opt for frozen drinks or pass out popsicles to keep guests cool after a long night of dancing.

Choose a date as far in advance as possible
Summer is peak wedding season. If you have an ideal venue in mind, choose a date quickly so you can figure out if it’s available. You also want to do this to get out your save-the-dates quickly! Summer is a busy time for everyone, with kids being out of schools, vacations, other events, etc., so you want to make sure you give your guests enough notice to plan accordingly.
