This week for Spotlight Friday I had the pleasure of interviewing Wendee Vezzetti of Custom Weddings of Colorado.
Wedit: How did you get your start in the Event Planning Industry?
Wendee: I started working as an assistant to two wedding planners at Keystone Resort. I kept working in the industry as a meeting planner but had friends, and then their friends keep asking me to help them with their weddings. So, I founded my first wedding planning company in 2001.
Wedit: What is your favorite part of the industry?
Wendee: I love putting together the logistical elements to make our clients visions a reality.
Wedit: What are your favorite wedding trends this year?
Wendee: More and more couples are open to doing a “first look”. We love it because we capture secret, intimate emotions between the two of them that is unlikely when an audience is constantly around them and their focus is diverted. With a “first look”, it is often the only part of the wedding day in which they are truly in the moment with each other.
Wedit: What is the biggest change you have seen since the start of your career?
Wendee: I shifted my career in 2012 and only do small, intimate weddings (30 people or less) or elopements. I’ve seen that trend increasing over the past couple of years. The couple seems to want to spend quality time with those closest to them.
Wedit: What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?
Wendee: Your guests will reflect your mood. So, if you want a spirited, fun event, then make sure to be that on your wedding day. If you want something laid-back, they make sure you are laid-back.
