This week we interviewed Stephanie Webber of A Daydream Wedding. She had a lot of great things to say.
Wedit: How did you get your start in the Event Planning Industry?
Stephanie: Like most wedding planners, I got started in the event planning industry based on my experience in planning my wedding. However, my story is different. Most planners say they had so much fun at planning they decided it would be a good career for them. However, I had the opposite outcome. Several things went wrong at my wedding. All things that could have been avoided had a hired a planner or coordinator to help out. The first thing that went wrong was that our DJ canceled just hours before our ceremony. I found out when I was getting my hair and makeup done, and started crying thinking my wedding would be ruined without music. The makeup artist got upset at me for crying and told me I was going to ruin my makeup. Luckily, my husband was able to call around and find a last-minute replacement, and nobody knew the difference. The second thing that went wrong was that I didn’t have a lot of help in setting up our reception. So I ended up being late to my ceremony because I didn’t want to leave the reception hall halfway decorated. On top of that, I was decorating in my wedding dress! And third, the hall we rented ended up being a little too small for the number of guests we had. All in all, my wedding went okay. But afterward, I realized a bride’s wedding day should be more than just “okay”. So I set out to help brides with planning their wedding and being support on their wedding day, so their wedding day could be “perfect”.
Wedit: What is your favorite part of the industry?
Stephanie: I love my clients, they are all interesting and unique. And I get to look at beautiful wedding dresses, flowers, setups, all day long. Plus I get to help people out on one of the best days of their lives. I love my job!
Wedit: What are your favorite wedding trends this year?
Stephanie: I like the color of the year, Living Coral. It is perfect for Springtime and summer weddings and can be pair with so many colors like grey, navy, and teal. I also love the velvet linen trend. I’ve seen some gorgeous tablescapes using velvet table linens, napkins, and runners.
Wedit: What is the biggest change you have seen since the start of your career?
Stephanie: Pinterest for sure! People get so much inspiration and DIY ideas from Pinterest these days, which was not available 10 years ago. Before, brides looked at bridal magazines and books.
Wedit: What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?
Stephanie: Always be willing to step outside your comfort zone. Growth and opportunity exist just beyond your comfort zone.
