This week for Spotlight Friday I had the pleasure of interviewing Lisa Pleasant of Lisa Pleasant Events.

Wedit: How did you get your start in the Event Planning Industry?
Lisa: I was actually working in an algorithmic trading firm when a club promotions company fell into my lap. Shortly after taking this on, my older brother became engaged and asked me to help plan his wedding, which I was happy to do. Within a few months, I realized that this was my passion, dropped the other company, and started my own event planning business.

Wedit: What is your favorite part of the industry?
Lisa: I love the logistics of pulling everything together to make it one big production. It’s kind of like puzzle-solving.

Wedit: What are your favorite wedding trends this year?
Lisa: I love bringing in all of these personal, creative touches to make an event truly representative of the couple.

What is the biggest change you have seen since the start of your career?
Lisa: I am finding that the wedding formalities are dwindling. Things like the bouquet toss and cake cutting are becoming less and less common.
