This Week’s Spotlight Friday is on Krystal Bequette of A Seaside Wedding and Event. She has a great story and great pieces of advice.

Wedit: How did you get your start in the Event Planning Industry?

I never dreamed of being in the event industry but 8.5 years ago I was tired of the restaurant industry and a friend of mine needed some extra help so I switched careers. After 2 years I took her position as Wedding & Events director and can’t imagine doing anything else!

Wedit: What is your favorite part of the industry?

Wedit: What is your favorite part of the industry?

Krystal: my couples!

Wedit: What are your favorite wedding trends this year?

Krystal: Since I am in a destination wedding location, beach weddings are what I do most so typical trends don’t always get blended in. I love seeing the personalities of the couple at weddings! One trend I am seeing more this year is healthy options: food menu, flavored water bars & kombucha bars!

Wedit: What is the biggest change you have seen since the start of your career?

Krystal: The biggest change I have seen is that the couples are more aware of the investment into their wedding and are budget conscious. I think it is wonderful they are planning for their future together by not starting their marriage in debt.

Wedit: What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?

Krystal: I think the best piece of advice I’ve ever received is that comparison is the thief of joy. In the wedding industry, you are always trying to keep up with the trends, social media and you may see what others may be doing. I’ve been fortunate enough to surround myself with some amazing down to earth people in the industry and we keep each other grounded. My focus is always 100% for my couple’s experience, not the photos, getting published or who are liking my posts on social media.
