This week I interviewed, Michigan Event Planner, Jennie Wiegand of Beautiful Day Planning.
Wedit: How did you get your start in the Event Planning Industry?
Jennie: I found my love for planning weddings while working on my own 2005 wedding. Employed in the auto industry at the time, I started working on weddings for friends and family on the site. In late 2008 I left automotive to begin pursuing weddings full time. Beautiful Day Planning was “born” January 2009.
Wedit: What is your favorite part of the industry?
Jennie: My favorite part of the industry is the fact that we get to be involved in the biggest day of this couple’s lives. For the rest of their life, this is one day that they will remember. Being trusted to be a part of that is a huge honor.
Wedit: What are your favorite wedding trends this year?
Jennie: I’m excited about two trends we are seeing. First that couples continue to think outside of the box with their food choices – whether it be food truck dinners, or donut bar desserts, it’s fun to surprise your guests with something new. I’m also really excited that couples seem to be trending towards COLOR in their weddings! Although you’ll never grow tired of a classic black and white wedding, it’s fun to see couples exploring more colorful options!
Wedit: What is the biggest change you have seen since the start of your career?
Jennie: The biggest change I’ve seen in the past 10 years is the trend towards more and more couples doing a first look! Seeing each other before your ceremony not only makes your timeline easier and gives you more time for photos, but it calms even the most nervous couples down. Think about it, you’re choosing to spend the rest of your life with this person, you’ll be so much calmer and enjoy the day more from the first second you have them by your side!
Wedit: What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?
Jennie: The best piece of advice I’ve ever gotten is to truly love what you do. If you can say that you pour your heart and soul into your job, it feels a lot less like work. Find something that you’re passionate about and try to make it work!
