For this Spotlight Friday we talked with Emily Salomon of Connolly House Events. She talked about being all for the change in the industry of “there being a huge push towards-zero waste weddings in the past year.”

How did you get your start in the Event Planning Industry?

I started planning a few friend’s weddings and quickly fell in love, so I decided to make a career out of it!

What is your favorite part of the industry?

Working and coming alongside other vendors to help create & execute the most important day of a couple’s lives- it is beyond satisfying.

What are your favorite wedding trends this year?

The rise of natural elements- clay, terracotta, stoneware, hand-dyed linens. Love it all!

What is the biggest change you have seen since the start of your career?

There has been a huge push towards-zero waste weddings in the past year, and I am 10/10 here for it!

What is the best piece of advice you have ever recieved?

My father’s life-long advice: less is more. It applies to weddings just as much as it does to everyday life! Couples should do exactly what they envision for their day, and leave any undesired tradition/trend/added cost behind.
