Spotlight Friday with Dawn Schenkel of Premier W.E.D

This week we interviewed Dawn Schenkel of Premier W.E.D. We love working with her.

Wedit: How did you get your start in the Event Planning Industry?
Dawn: It was 20 years ago and I was working for the YMCA of Middle TN in the non-profit world and chose to step out on my own. I saw an opportunity to fill a gap in the Nashville market. There weren’t many wedding planners my age who did full design and planning at the time.

Wedit: What is your favorite part of the industry?
Dawn: The amazing people I meet!

Wedit: What are your favorite wedding trends this year?
Dawn: I am loving Dusty Blue in all forms….linens, paper goods, you name it! I also love the organic look to florals and even ribbon details that the bride’s are choosing the days. No more compact nosegays!

Wedit: What is the biggest change you have seen since the start of your career?
Dawn: The costs and the amounts of production. There weren’t draping companies, lighting companies, prop companies, furniture at rental companies.

Wedit: What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?
Dawn: That is too hard to answer in one sentence! I’ve been lucky to be surrounded by amazing clients, colleagues, friends that give advice. Not to get too cheesy, but the best advice I get and use every day is through my devotionals and scriptures. Without them….I’d make very different choices.
