Spotlight Friday With Amanda Piper of Events@ 5280

This week we interviewed Amanda Piper of Events@5280. She had a lot of great things to say.

Wedit: How did you get your start in the Event Planning Industry?
Amanda: Technically, my “start” was re-writing and planning my high school Homecoming parade and dance to be a spectacular, community-wide event. But professionally my “start” was my first job as PR/Events Manager for the John Steinbeck Center Foundation. I’ve planned events for 30 years!

Wedit: What is your favorite part of the industry?
Amanda: My favorite part of the industry is seeing the end product come to life. I love the interactivity with guests and seeing all the hard work and ideas be made a reality.

Wedit: What are your favorite wedding trends this year?
Amanda: I love the Pantone Color of the Year: Coral! It’s so refreshing, new and fresh. And the vibrancy makes for beautiful pictures.

Wedit: What is the biggest change you have seen since the start of your career?
Amanda: Since the start of my career…online registrations that magically transform into a spreadsheet! I remember having to hand type each registration onto a form and having to hand sort them alphabetically. The magic of computer-generated lists is the best thing ever!

Wedit: What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?
Amanda: My Mom gave me the best advice…talk to everyone before making a decision. Sometimes it tedious to talk to as many people about one thing, but the research is well worth the end result, every time. Thanks, Mom!
