The advice we heard from Event Planner Ashley Rhodes about trends, starting a business, and the favorite parts of the industry is helpful especially since she has experienced all of this firsthand. “Wedding magazines. Ashley: As a young professional and newlywed, not too far out of college, I found myself in the middle of the recession and had to really hit the ground running to make things happen. I was working in the interior design industry when several clients asked if I would plan and design for their children’s weddings also. I obliged and took on these projects when the construction industry almost completely went away. The rest is kind if history. That was 12 years ago.
Ashley: The people. I love people. Truly! I love getting to know my clients and helping them create these huge life event moments and to make, what could be a super stressful time, fun and enjoyable.
Ashley: Not colored baby’s breath! Sorry guys. I can’t get behind it.

Ashley: I always get asked this question…It was from my business adviser when I opened. Remember, we were in the middle of a recession and I wanted to open a small business. HA! I was told to “do it the old fashioned way. It will be hard, but it will be honest and if you ever want to walk away, you can without owing anyone. Don’t open a business credit card and don’t take out a loan. Just work and make it happen.” As crazy as it is…it’s been 12 years and I still have no business credit card and I’ve never taken out a loan.
